Mahmoud El-Hajj is a certified master herpetologist and the go-to expert for wildlife and rescue emergencies at Lebanese Wildlife. His extensive skills, fearless attitude, and unwavering dedication make him indispensable to the team and its mission. Whether responding to animals or humans stuck on mountains, in trees, rivers, remote areas, or underwater, Mahmoud’s expertise has resolved countless perilous situations that would have been impossible without his intervention.
Mahmoud is also one of the organization’s main educators, passionate about raising awareness about wildlife and challenging misconceptions about reptiles and arachnids. His commitment to education is key to fostering a deeper understanding of and respect for these misunderstood species.
In addition to his work with Lebanese Wildlife, Mahmoud serves as a Field Officer at “Lebanese Reforestation Initiative”, focusing on habitat restoration and wildlife conservation. He is an active member of “Speleo Liban”, participating in caving explorations and studies, and a canyoning guide with “Guardians of the Falls”, where he leads adventurous and safe canyoning trips. A certified caver, diver, and rescuer, Mahmoud excels in various rescue operations in challenging environments. His specialization as a rope expert makes him indispensable for intricate rope work, particularly in high-risk scenarios.
